
Elia Silveyra
Elia Silveyra is a proud bicultural social worker who brings both heart and experience to her work with families impacted by HIV. Born in the United States and raised in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, Mexico. She earned her bachelor’s in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles in 2003 and completed her MSW at USC in 2011. Elia has built her career across sectors—from child welfare to community health to end-of-life care—but her work with people living with HIV began in 2011, serving older adults in hospice and home health. Since 2012 she has provided trauma-informed, culturally responsive support to women, children, and families affected by HIV at UCLA. As a contributor to the Confessions: HIV Positive podcast, Elia brings not only clinical expertise but a deep understanding of storytelling as healing. Her passion lies in creating space for women’s voices—especially those often unheard—and advocating for dignity across every stage of life.
